I agree with Kirk. I use samba on my home network and the passwords are plain. I have ports 137:139 blocked off from the outside anyway so I'm not worried about others seeing my windows boxes inside my network. I also added the line in smb.conf interface = 192.168.1.1 or what ever your internal nic address is so that smb uses that instead of trying to use the outside ip address. Raul A.
