The Symantec Anti-Virus Research Center is warning of the VBS.Hard.A at mm worm, which arrives in an e-mail titled "FW: Symantec Anti-Virus Warning." The folks at Symantec are not amused. Vincent Weafer, the security c ompany's director, told TechWeb News: "We've seen this before," adding, "We haven't seen many infections yet" of the new virus. Infected e-mail messages arrive with the following message: "Hello, There is a new worm on the Net. This worm is very fast spreading and very dangerous! Symantec has first noticed it on April 04, 2001. The attached file is a description of the worm and how it replicates itself. With regards, F. Jones Symantec senior developer." The message's attachment, www.symantec.com.vbs, sends victims to a fake Symantec site and does the dirty work of trying to mail itself to other recipients in a computer's Microsoft Outlook address book. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
