Kirk, your correct that usb is the suposed future, but I suspect it'll be some time before the serial port goes the way of the isa slot and even its hanging on even if barely. I do agree that if a usb keyboard can be detected, then so could a synth. What is sad is that most folks are going with the software speech which at this point is very disappointing in my mind. Oh, and yes there are at least one pci and one usb synth on the market.
