Something about some BIOS implimentations. If the BIOS is set for plug and play OS and the serial ports are set to automatic, they may not be initialized to work on any value at power on. I haven't seen the latest PnP information but the original called for all devices capable of releasing their information durring POST to allow more effecient assignment by the OS. This should be easily over-ridden in the BIOS. Have a helper set the ports to standard Com1 and Com2. ======= Kirk Wood Cpt.Kirk at 1tree.net
