here's my computer setup.
it's a compaq 233 model 4550 with an onboard sound (ess audio drive 1887)
chip and a sound blaster live! pci card.
I can't get into or I don't know how to get to the bios to disable the
onbard sound card.
I'm trying to get alsa to work.
I download alsaconf-0.4.3b.tar.gz from ftp.braille.uwo.ca/pub/linux/goodies
uploaded by ryan mann and it supposedly configured /etc/modules.conf which
when I looked it was configured, but the drivers still don't work.
I've compiled th drivers libs and utils I compiled the drivers about 4 or 5
times but the libs and utils were unchanged because I didn't think it was
necessary to keep recompiling them.
I've tried the card 0 and card 1 id's for the sound cards and nothing worked.
Does any one have a similar setup to mine?
Also, could I just take the hd the net card and the sb live and get my 486
upgraded and put the parts into it so it'd only have 1 sound card?
Any suggestions/help would be helpful.
I've had any number of people looking at this thing.
Compaq burning party right?
