I think freeamp works from the command line as well as with X. There is a ./configure option called "--enable-cmdline" and I believe people use it that way. But I do not have that posix thread library. Shit! I will begin by looking through my distribution CD to see if it might be something I neglected to install. Thanks for the tip, anyway... Chuck.
