What I wonder is what do you want to do in your CMOS? I would give you fair warning that if you goof up and write the wrong thing to the wrong place you won't get as far as the LILO prompt. In fact, the warnings that are in the kernal compile help say you can stop the machine from ever booting again, though I have my doubts on that one.
