No, I have the same error messages using Seagate 500Gb 2,5" SATA disks
(ST9500420AS) and also with 160Gb 2,5" Intel X-25 SATA SSD's (SSDSA2M160).

The contoller is connected to a backplane (SuperMicro SAS216A). As fas as
I know there are no expanders involved.
