The scsi channel is then restarted again and again. The weird thing is the Plextor SCSI CD-ROM PX-40TS reader is not impacted by this issue. So it does only impact some specific drives. I do not think it is related to this bug : http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5659 Using older kernel (<2.6.14 series) do not show this issue ! I even tried latest gentoo kernel available and the same problem occur, whereas the gentoo 2.6.16r7 almost permit to access to CD between 2 channel reset. --------------DMESG----------------------------------------------------------- ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:09.0[A] -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17 scsi0 : Adaptec AIC7XXX EISA/VLB/PCI SCSI HBA DRIVER, Rev 7.0 <Adaptec 29160 Ultra160 SCSI adapter> aic7892: Ultra160 Wide Channel A, SCSI Id=7, 32/253 SCBs Vendor: QUANTUM Model: ATLAS10K2-TY184L Rev: DDD6 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03 scsi0:A:0:0: Tagged Queuing enabled.
