I wasn't aware of that.

The C8000 (and presumably similar vintage hardware like the rp3440,
etc) have a BMC (baseboard management controller) that is active when
the system is powered. When attached to the serial console, you can
press ESC ( and you will be able to interact with the BMC:
I knew the C8000 has a BMC, and I was able to (partly) talk
to it from inside Linux, but I had no documentation on how to
access it from serial console or network.
Useful info.  I had seen info of a system event log on c8000 but I had seen no info
on how to read it.

On rp3440, one can access a bunch on info using ^B.
