There shouldn't be any need to keep the old macros after the 2.6.34 merge window. Probably the best time to remove them would be in a patch queued for the 2.6.35 merge window. Any new patches that use 44xx IRQs would be required to use the autogenerated IRQ macros after the 2.6.34 merge.
