You have fbdev enabled, and probably you have CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE enabled. fbconsole takes a ref. There are directions on how to unbind the console manually from the fb in Documentation/fb/fbcon.txt. I never have fbcon enabled, so it didn't occur to me right away... Tomi
