Greetings; been reading and studying Internet Relay Chat and think I have a basic knowledge about it but one problem escapes me that several tutorials, FAQ', readme's and books haven't mentioned yet. www.irchelp.org has several files but I see no mention of "registering" anywhere, unless my eyes are worse than I thought.. With everything setup per the above and invoking BitchX; the bundled Slackware, 2.4.29, IRC client, the status line reports: " Nickname not registered yet." For the life of me I can't seem to find out how, where, what, when to "register" my selected nickname.. Am I missing something simple?? Invoking BitchX sans a server entry; the program scrolls thru many irc server sites but nothing really happens because of that register report.. At least /quit works... <grin> TIA.. -- Hal - in Terra Alta, WV/US - Slackware GNU/Linux 10.1 (2.4.29) . - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-newbie" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html Please read the FAQ at http://www.linux-learn.org/faqs
