No, the switch is not playing a role here.
I am using mode balance-alb ( 6 ) in bond0 for the switch and 802.3ad (
4 ) in bond1 which is cross over connection between the 2 servers.
The switch does support Link / Port / Ethernet / NIC Aggregation /
Trunking / Channeling / Teaming (802.3ad). It is a Cisco Catalyst
2960G, by the way.
After I configure the switch I will probably only use 802.3ad, as that
is the standard.
Also, it was working fine with kernel 2.6.26 in this very same
environment.
So you are saying the way to go is to use the sysfs interface ( /sys ;
those echo commands ), right?
I have already tried that a little bit, but I will try to put more time
into that again.
Does anybody would be able to tell me the all the steps to create 2
bonding interfaces with different options using sysfs?

Yes, I have been reading the kernel docs a lot, bonding.txt...
I have been trying all those methods.
I think I always ended with the stability issue: 10 s of working
pings
and 10 s of time outs...
I was mainly trying to use the full "install bond0 /sbin/modprobe"
commands in modprobe.conf.
By the way, I have 2 x e1000 (Intel Gigabit) and 2 x tg3 (NetXtreme).
What else?
What type of switching gear are you connected to? Are you sure that is
configured correctly?
I would try factoring out the settings of your bond from the modprobe
command to echo's to /sys/. Then you don't need to rm the module and
reprobe it back in.
