I apologize that I didn't mention this. One of the first things I tried
was building 2.6.22.1. That was with only e100 - I only used eepro a
couple of times. The results, and error messages, have been the same
every time.

I will give the 2.6.23 a try.

This may or may not say something, but the current Knoppix and Ubuntu
releases (downloaded and burned last week) had the same results. I don't
have those disks with me, so I can't give exact kernel information.
