i have a linux router with 6 gigabit ethernet adapters. i have found that, when i use a cheap, off-brand switch, occasionally a power surge, or something, will fry my ethernet card and crash the router. Afterward, the NIC is completely worthless. Has anyone ever encountered this problem??? absolutely nothing will show up in any logs. after a reboot, the linux kernel will continue to recognize the NIC. The NIC, though, will not establish an ethernet link at all. thank you, Randy - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
