ppp/slip stall because pdflush

I connect to internet with ppp/slip then I initiate a download for example 2Mb of file. Then during the download I start a copy of a file, for example, 100MB between my disk
partitions, so the connection bandwidth go to 0b/s.

I tried to renice pppd to -20 but pdflush, reiserfs and other kernel daemon they have prevalence
over the ppp.

What is the real problem/solution?

Thanks in advice,
lorenzo
