Hi all, Whats the deal with the "kmem_cache_free" and the "kfree"s which seem to be at the top of my 2.6.10 readprofile results??? These do not appear in the 2.4.x . I have included my readprofile results(when I was running the TCP application, in my case, iSCSI) at the bottom of this email. When I run a TCP application, they hamper the performance very badly(at least thats what I think is happening, because all the sysctl paremeters were the same as what I used for 2.4.x). The throughputs for 2.6.x are about 1/4 that of the corresponding 2.4.x. They are always present irrespective of whether I run the TCP application or not. But their impact on CPU idle time is more drastic when I am utilizing the network. I have 384 MB RAM , 1/3rd of which always shows free , so I cant even attribute these kmem_cache_free and kfrees to the non-availability of memory fo rthe application processes. Please let me know if anyone knows what these "kfrees and kmem_cache_free's mean.
