tg3 performance later 2.6 kernels

Is there a known issue that would cause poor performance on a dell 2650
using its built-in broadcom 5701 adapters? (Poor as in high number of
dropped packets while pinging.) The system worked well under 2.6.2, but
booting into 2.6.10 the network is unusable. I think this happened under
2.6.9 on another system as well, and on 2.6.5 from fedora core 2. I
wanted to see if this problem was already known before wasting a lot of
time on diagnostics.
