Is the setsockopt you have given in the link specific to TCP sockets? This is because we tried using it with UDP sockets and it is not setting the socket options correctly. Is there anything that can be changed to make it work for UDP sockets also.
AFAIK the socket options should work on all sockets type. See for example "ping -I".
