When using r8169 with kernel 8169, it takes some seconds and the machine freezes. I have connected the RJ45 with a hub. When I plug-in a laptop to the hub, everything seems to work fine (DHCP), but when using for example scp and copying large files the machine crashes.
Can you try 2.6.6-bk snapshot?
