Problem with 3c905 kernel module

Hi there.

[Message to developers, also CC'ed to mailing list]

I've been having some problems with the kernel module for my network
card. I have a 3com 3c905-TX network card, that generally works quite
well. I have had some IRQ problems recently with sharing but have
hopefully got those fixed.

As I say, in general the NIC is very reliable. I can move a lot of data at
high speed over it. However, if I try and do this when my soundcard is in
use, I find my NIC stops working. No network traffic occurs, and I get
errors in my syslog. When I stop the soundcard, sometimes I get my network
connectivity back, sometimes not. An /etc/init.d networking restart
generally restores connectivity.

I'm running Debian Linux 3.0 stable with a kernel 2.4.18. My card,as I
say, is a 3com 3x905-TX. I've got a Soundblaster 4.1 Digital soundcard and
an ECS K7S5A motherboard.

The kernel errors are as follows:

Nov 28 04:04:17 aquila kernel: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out

And the messages when modprobing the module are as follows:

Nov 28 03:46:15 aquila kernel: 00:09.0: 3Com PCI 3c905 Boomerang 100baseTx at 0xdc00. Vers LK1.1.16

I'd quite like to find a solution to this; can anyone suggest one?

Thanks in advance,
