			 ^^It makes no sense what '10.0.0.8/8' means.  

I assume this is based on the 'new' reading of the John's original post.  Assuming that the 10.255.255.255 ifconfig'ed machine can get broadcasts in only 10.0.1.0/24, that's what I would expect, but your reply totally through me off.
