Asante Giganix 1000TPC with 2.4 kernel

Hi all,

I am trying to use Asante Giganix 1000TPC cards with 2.4.19 kernel, but
observing a strange problem - After the system boots up I am able to
communicate (ping) through the interface. But if I bring down the interface,

'ifdown eth1' and then bring the interface back up, 'ifup eth1', there is
no communication (again ping through the interface). Looking at
/proc/interrupts show interrupts being generated on the card, but doing
'ifconfig eth1' shows no change in Rx and Tx packets.

The driver being used is National Semiconductor's ns83820. I see the same
behavior on 2.4.18smp kernel.

Has anyone encountered such a problem?

Thanks,

-Hemant
