I've just talked to Christoph - he'll answer the technical part of your 
mail... ;-)

We do only have the SMC Etherpower II model with 2 connectors UTP & FX. These 
cards seem to work well with the changes - we have 2 machines running with 
this new driver since several days w/o problems now. I'll try to update this 
to 48 machines (all simple x86 Fujitsu-Siemens Celsius workstations) in the 
next few days. I'll also try to connect these cards with our driver to a 
10baseT hub on Wednesday to see if autonegotation there still works. Perhaps 
I'll be able to test the driver on a dual-processor machine, too - but that's 
not sure for now...

Unfortunately, we've no other EtherpowerII-models to test, sorry. :-((

But we don't think our changes will break anything, as the old functionality 
was only moved to another place and some new functionality was added...
