Hi I have the following setup: A Mandrake 8.1 server/router connected to a cable modem through a 3Com NIC. A second Netgear NIC feeds an internal LAN through a 4-port Netgear hub. 1 Pbook G3 (OSX 10.1) wired to the hub. 1 Airport BS bridging the wireless and wired network. 1 TiBook (OSX 10.1) connecting to the Airport. My problem is transfer speeds from my wireless TiBook to either wired machine and vice versa. I just copied a 3Mb file from my TiBook to the Linux box and it took about 10 minutes. I copied the same file from my wired Pbook to the server and it took a couple of seconds. The relevant output of ifconfig on my TiBook is: en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,b6,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.1.3 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:30:65:14:27:80 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect The output of ifconfig on my wired Pbook: en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,b6,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.1.4 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:05:02:f5:96:7e media: autoselect (10baseT/UTP <half-duplex>) status: active supported media: none autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <ful l-duplex> and my Linux box: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:DA:CF:B8:0C inet addr:66.65.21.121 Bcast:255.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.252.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:306396 errors:1 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:1 TX packets:138779 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:1984 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:308757850 (294.4 Mb) TX bytes:12553950 (11.9 Mb) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x1000 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:40:05:AA:94:A4 inet addr:192.168.1.1 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:139278 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:251155 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:3484 txqueuelen:100 RX bytes:18928264 (18.0 Mb) TX bytes:309786537 (295.4 Mb) Interrupt:5 Base address:0x240 Has anybody any ideas why wireless<->wired communication is so slow? I'm assuming it's the Airport bridge - does anyone know how to fix this?
