I'm assuming so, even when the /etc/resolv.conf nameservers have been updated (confirmed with a "host host.domain.com ns.nameserver.com" or with nslookup) the kernel still seems to "remember" old answers until the expire or refresh time has been reached. Going to an independent system with the same /etc/resolv.conf file, never hitting "host.domain.com" comes back with the right answer.
