Hi,
ik have *exactly* the same problem and posted some more details last week on the
kernel mailling list.
I also sent an email to the author of the driver and here is his (short) reply:

same chip works for me von my P5 SMP box.

no interrupts for PCnet driver sounds more like interrupt routing problem to
me.

I'm glad someone else experiences the same problem!

If needed, i'm able to give access to the machine via a serial console ;)
