Hello,
I am a RH7 linux box into an WnNT WAN.
My IP address is released by the Winnt dhcp server
172.20.64.73.
DNS server: 172.30.1.3
WINS server:172.30.1.100
	    172.30.1.101
My gateway: 172.20.64.71
Network: 172.20.64.0
Proxy: 172.30.1.41
I want to setup samba to view Winnt computer and the
Winnt be clients to my samba server.
The big problem is that I don't know how to make that
the Winnt computers see me by name.
My linux box has just localhost name.
I tried to compile samba 2.0.7 with nss_wins
(u1.samba,org/samba/ftp/contributed/~M=A or
www.padz.net/~djpadz/nss_wins/ or locate nss_wins with
www.google.org) but doesn't work (error at
compilation). I've read the unmaintained mini howto
Dynamic-IP-Hacks, but this is for PPP. Rh7 uses pump.
My Net. admin says that cannot give me a static IP and
put me in DNS (DNS contain just names for mail,
ftp,www servers) for security reasons. All traffic to
the Internet goes through a proxy server.
Any ideas how to resolve this problem?
TIA
