I'm not convinced that the learning curve for a GUI OS is any different than for a command-line OS. Is there very much difference between recalling arcane command-line arguments, and recalling arcane combinations of radio buttons and checkboxes? the real problem is poor OS design. NT 4 demonstrated this in many areas, especially updates. But have heart. netware took 9 years to get to the point that updates are reasonably predictable to install. Not easy. NT will never get there, since WIN 2000 is the new standard. Let us hope. In the meantime, Linux distributions vary in both ease of use and updating. Look for a Linux admin that understands the concepts of security, user administration, and networking. This person has a chance to grow.
