I have just went through and tried-out the implementation of VPN (using SSH and PPP) in accordance to the documentation VPN HOWTO.

As it is a experimental set, our setup was as follows:

                                                       \            /
Remote ____ Server/  ______/(Internet)\ ________ Home User (dial in through ISP)
            Network        gateway           \             /
                            (int:192.168.1.1)       /             \
                            (ext:202.156.127.199)
                            (note:-no router was used)

I have followed the instructions but faced problems with accessing the Remote Server when I tried to SSH to it.  The error message received was "SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable" However even when after we have increased the sleep time bet ssh and pppd to 30s, the error message remained.

Question:

1)    Do any of you have any clues to what else could be wrong?
2)    Is there another way to test that the server side is being configured correctly?

Please advise.
