Large Raid Device vs. Linux Solution?

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello all, I'm looking into a solution for a large storage device (100 -
500 Gig) and have come across
several large Raid Drive systems that connect to a host via Scsi and have
quite a large cost( Low end = $10k)

My question is, are their any solutions using Linux to do this at a much
cheaper cost? Such as a Linux Cluster
with smaller drives (lower cost) or a special controller/drive bay for
Linux, to provide the same solution?

Any Ideas would be most helpful. I wanted to see if their are any
alternatives to buying a canned system, by using
Linux.

Thanks in advance,
