Please take a look at the "hybrid_tuner_request_state()" api located in drivers/media/tuners/tuner-i2c.h For a good example of how to use this API in such a situation as a demodulator, take a look at drivers/media/dvb-frontends/au8522_common.c Don't let the "hybrid_tuner_" prefix to the API prevent you from using it to share state on a digital demodulator - it can definitely be used for this purpose.
