I think there's an agreement on this. Memory allocation and memory management 
must be separated, in order to have a single buffer management API working 
with several different memory providers. Given the wild creativity of hardware 
engineers, it's pretty much guaranteed that we'll see even more exotic memory 
allocation requirements in the future :-)

I've had a look at HWMEM yesterday. The API seems to go more or less in the 
right direction, but the allocator and memory managers are tightly integrated, 
so we'll need to solve that.

I've asked TI who is responsible for CMEM, I'm waiting for an answer.
