Josef, white balance temperature and hue controls are being blacklisted in uvcvideo for all cameras due to a bug in the driver. A patch fixing the issue was committed recently (https://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/linux-uvc-devel/2009-December/005396.html) but I'm not sure when it will be available. These controls if supported by your camera could help improve the image color.
