AFAIK, other m68k machines are similar.  So a limit of 1 GiB sounds fine
to me.

That would severly limit the usefulness of emulators like Aranym.

I agree with that stance. The kernel can use more memory on Aranym than on
currently available real hardware and changes to the memory management in
the kernel should not limit that functionality.

Also, I expect the Vampire FPGA-based accelerators [1] to become usable with
Linux in the future and those could see more on-board memory as well.
