Testing 2.6.20 kernel on m68k Macs

I have downloaded a 2.6.20 kernel and tried it on a couple of my m68k
Macs. Just trying to get a feel for what the status of 2.6 is on the
m68k boxes. I've run into a problem that I hope is an easy fix. On my
Performa 636 it boots up just fine, but when I try to login the keyboard
appears to be scrambled. I can login via ssh just fine. I seem to
recall a similar problem at one time with the NuBus PowerMacs, but I
can't seem to recall the magic incantation to correct this problem
