HP300: early console registered
start of paging_init (00001000, fc252000)
block 0: 0xfc000000:0x4000000 (max_addr=0x0)

Could you try the patch below?
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: before free_area_init
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: On node 0 totalpages: 16384
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: DMA zone: 144 pages used for memmap
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: DMA zone: 0 pages reserved
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: DMA zone: 16240 pages, LIFO batch:3
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: Normal zone: 0 pages used for memmap
Feb 19 20:11:08 hp kernel: Built 1 zonelists. Total pages: 16240
Much better! Tested with CONFIG_SINGLE_MEMORY_CHUNK=y and
CONFIG_SINGLE_MEMORY_CHUNK=n and a memory size of 0x4000000. So I don't
need the -1 in the boot loader anymore either.
I know your patch also seems to fix the "memory size must be a multiple
of the page size" requirement, but if it works this way it's fine with
me. I'm the only one using HP300 anyway, I think...
Kind regards,
Kars.
