Hi Iain,

Some comments inline.
This is an interesting part and there are various ways the driver could be
extended longer term. In particularly allowing triggered sequences of
multiple channels could be done reasonably efficiently with a carefully
crafted set of SPI transfers.

For cases like this define just the MASK and put it at the
shift in this case BIT(8) elsewhere GENMASK for multiple bit masks.

The use FIELD_GET / FIELD_PREP to get and set values including masking
shifting etc all done for you.

So these are values in a field Don't use BIT() for that, they are
just numbers but combine them with a mask and FIELD_PREP etc to set them.

No sign of the 1118 yet? Introduce this complexity when you add support for that part.

Nice to support the temp sensor as well if you can.

Same value twice. Why? If that's a register setting just don't use it.

You could leave the data big endian though that would mean refactoring the
be16_to_cpu to be outside of the channel read function.

tab based alignment often bit rots, so I'd prefer just a single space between
type and the name.

Use sizeof(u16) for the 2 + sizeof(s64) for the timestamp size.

Also, you only ever grab one channel as far as I can see so not sure why this
is so big.

You have a dt binding that has per channel elements. If doing that
it's normal to dynamically only create the channels that are specified.
Fine to provide them all as a default of course.

Unless you are planning to shortly introduce more chips, drop this complexity
and just directly assign them in the code.

If there are more parts coming in follow up patches, put something in the patch
description about that so we know (not that I read those :)

No trailing */ for multiline comments.

	/*

Though with a get_unaligned_be16(&st->rx_buf[2]) that will be more obvious anyway.

Looks like a get_unaligned_be16() to me so please use that instead to make
what is going on explicit.

I think we could protect this code with a call to
pm_runtime_enabled and then mark the function + the ones later
as __maybe_unused allowing ust to drop the ifdef complexity and let
the compiler remove the code for us.

Doing this after the read of the channel is unusual
It would be valid to bypass this effort if repeating the read of a channel, but
you need to check the state and change it if necessary.

Switch these over to using the read_avail callback and appropriate masks in the
IIO core. Lots of drivers predate those being introduced but I would like
to avoid introducing more cases that we'll eventually need to convert over
to those. The advantage of using those is that consumer drivers can access
them unlike driver specific attrs.

Use generic firmware property access functions from linux/property.h
instead of OF specific ones. That enables ACPI based firmwares and others
for free.

Don't make anything dependent on CONFIG_OF. See above.
Check if there is a fwnode to decide whether to use the
defaults as that works for any type of firmware rather than just
OF.

All else being equal, reverse xmas tree ordering slightly preferred in IIO.
I'm flexible on that though if there are logical groups etc, but that is not
really true here.

Single blank lines only - keeps more code on the screen without loss of readability.

No need to set BUFFER_SOFTWARE as that's done by the core on registration of
the buffer. Also for reference single space only around operators.

Casting away the const is not a good idea. Make st->data_rate const as well.

Never freed.  Use devm_iio_trigger_alloc()

Not the right error path...

Looks like this could validly return an error code, so make it do so and handle it.

I think you can safely use devm_iio_triggered_buffer_setup() here
without changing the ordering.

Using a devm_add_action_or_reset() callback would allow you to drop this
from manual handling in remove + error path (where it is currently missing).

you can move the pm_runtime handling from remove() into a devm_add_action_or_reset()
callback and that would allow devm_ managed cleanup throughout which avoids any
fiddly error handling. As things stand you've left this hanging if there
are any errors from the device register.

I'd expect anything in this error path to also be seen in remove, though you
can drop this if you use devm_ as suggested above.
