I did get the linux-2.6.20rc2 tarball from kernel.org, but when I tried to apply the patches from your link, the first ones seems to have been applied already for some of the files, so I had .rej files for some of the chunks. It was late tho, didn't go far. I never used git myself, as I said, I'm not a kernel guru, I'm just a sysadmin :) However, I can handle patch, and if I know the correct way to do it, I could do it on a specific version of the kernel.
