Please try not to top post.

For mplayer testing use the dvb-apps scan util to create a channels.conf
file.  put it in ~/.mplayer/channels.conf, if you don't already have
one.

Then

$ mplayer dvb://WFOO-DT

or

$ mplayer dvb://WFOO-DT -vf scale=960:540

to play 1920x1080 content on a smaller monitor (like a 1280x1024).
