I'm going to perform some more tests by using the "official" driver in LInuxTV HG repository, because I'm really not sure of it. Maybe the driver was yet working fine before and all was a matter of finding the "correct" configuration to use.

BTW, do I understand that you needed these changes
for S-VIDEO/COMPOSITE LINE-IN or did you solve the problem by
just lowering the input volume from your input device? I don't
have that opportunity personally with one DVD player.
