I also have more disconnects with kernel 2.6.24. I found that disabling in 
kernel config the option:

USB selective suspend/resume and wakeup (EXPERIMENTAL) ->CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND

have impact in the disconnects, althought I don't know exactily why, but with 
this option the Nova-T 500 hubs are constantly supend->resume.
