TT Budget C-1500 PCI bad signal?

Dear Linux DVB developers,

I've been trying to get DVB working on a system. I have been trying to get it
working with a KNC1 TV station, which is RMA now. Currently I'm trying to get
it working with a Technotrend C-1500 PCI + CI. The CAM is an alphacrypt with
firmware version 3.11. All channels are scambled. The CAM is known to be able
to decrypt irdeto, used by nl-Casema, so that should work.

Although I got rid of the CAM inserted/ejected loop (mentioned in an earlier
post of mine):

kernel: Linux video capture interface: v2.00
kernel: saa7146: register extension 'budget_av'.
kernel: saa7146: register extension 'budget_ci dvb'.
kernel: PCI: Enabling device 0000:00:08.0 (0000 -> 0002)
kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:08.0[A] -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 201
kernel: saa7146: found saa7146 @ mem ffffc2000006ae00 (revision 1, irq 201)
(0x13c2,0x1010).
kernel: saa7146 (0): dma buffer size 192512
kernel: DVB: registering new adapter (TT-Budget-C-CI PCI).
kernel: adapter has MAC addr = 00:d0:5c:68:3b:35
kernel: input: Budget-CI dvb ir receiver saa7146 (0) as /class/input/input2
kernel: budget_ci: CI interface initialised
kernel: DVB: registering frontend 0 (ST STV0297 DVB-C)...
kernel: dvb_ca adapter 0: DVB CAM detected and initialised successfully

tuning to channels is something different with this card, the signal and snr
is very bad:

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
234 Nederland 2:388000000:INVERSION_AUTO:6875000:FEC_NONE:QAM_64:181:182:8005
234 Nederland 2: f 388000000, s 6875000, i 2, fec 0, qam 3, v 0xb5, a 0xb6
status 00 | signal 01ff | snr 0a88 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 |
status 1f | signal 0316 | snr 0cd2 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal 0316 | snr 0dc5 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal 0316 | snr 0d63 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal 0315 | snr 0cde | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK

whereas the KNC1 had good reception:
status 1f | signal d2d2 | snr f3f3 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK

The result is the same with or without CAM inserted with the Technotrend card.
I have tried the following applications:
* czap
* kafffeine
* mythtv-backend

however without success. Tuning usually works, EIT works, the CAM is
successfully recognized (by mythtv), but the signal strength is bad for the
Technotrend card (with and w/o CAM). I haven't seen any picture yet, from any
of the two cards.

It seems that it is known by Technotrend, recently mentioned in the following
post,

http://www.dvbnetwork.eu/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=26&func=view&id=3495&catid=2

altough I'm not sure whether this is connected to this problem.

If you would have hints, suggestions, or pointers on how to proceede, I would
greatly appreciate it. Many thanks in advance,

Kind regards,

Rutger ter Borg
