yes, the same sad situation in Linux with the cards from ATI (AVIVO technology).
Also, there's not interlace PAFF support in MPlayer (ffmpeg).
But you can have a look on new Extension HD/PCI card from ReelMultimedia - with h264 hardware decoder from Micronas and with hdmi output.
