Markus & Matthew,

(cc added to linux-dvb, in case somebody else has the same question.)

I am missing the original part of the email containing the question, but
I can only assume that the question is, "Can the HVR950 be used to pick
up QAM?"

The answer is, no. Unfortunately, the Xceive XC3028 silicon tuner is
unable to receive QAM256 digital streams. The lgdt3303 demodulator,
however, is able to demodulate QAM256, QAM64, 8VSB and 16VSB. Its only
practical use within the hvr950 is for VSB only.

Matthew has mentioned the HVR1600 -- This is a completely different
device, using entirely different hardware, and it is a PCI device. On
the bright side, the HVR1600 is able to tune both QAM and VSB, but Linux
support is far from ready. (The right people are working on it, though
:-) )

Sorry for the bad news.

Regards,

Mike Krufky
