I now have an external amp, and I can receive many channels. Thought I'd summarise what I learnt: 1) In Debian based systems you need to create a file /etc/modprobe.d/dvb-usb-dib0700 that contains: options dvb-usb-dib0700 force_lna_activation=1 In order to force the LNA on. This can be checked by: more /sys/module/dvb_usb_dib0700/parameters/force_lna_activation which should now say '1'. 2) The uk_SandyHeath file is incomplete/wrong (wrong for the nova-t-500 at least). A better version to use (given to me by Graham Tavener) is : # Sandy Heath # T freq bw fec_hi fec_lo mod transmission-mode guard-interval hierachy T 641833000 8MHz 3/4 NONE QAM16 2k 1/32 NONE T 665833000 8MHz 2/3 NONE QAM64 2k 1/32 NONE T 650167000 8MHz 2/3 NONE QAM64 2k 1/32 NONE T 842000000 8MHz 3/4 NONE QAM16 2k 1/32 NONE T 626167000 8MHz 3/4 NONE QAM16 2k 1/32 NONE T 674167000 8MHz 3/4 NONE QAM16 2k 1/32 NONE This needs to be done for Kaffeine (for example) as well, because even using Kaff's auto-search didn't find any channels. 3) Don't know about the remote. The receiver is still in its plastic bag waiting for me to have some time! Thanks to all the people who replied to me and helped, Matt _______________________________________________ linux-dvb mailing list linux-dvb@xxxxxxxxxxx http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb
