I can already say that the USB chip is VIA onboard of an asus A7V880.
I think its a VT880...

What dvb-drivers are you using? (I used mercurial to download the latest drivers, you mentioned CVS).

yes, you're right... I'm so used to CVS... I used mercurial to retrieve
all dvb-v4l tree:
hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb

then, make/make install... nothing really special
