You are doing better than I am.  Which file did you modify?  
/usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video/saa7134/saa7134-cards.c  ?

Did KdeTV or Kaffeine "just work" (partly) after the mod?  

KdeTV's channel wizard pops up but doesn't find anything.  
I'm guessing that "TV", "Australia" and "Pal-bg" are the 
correct settings for me.
