I have a Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-CI (SAA7146) and an SCM 2.09 Irdeto CAM. Austar is my provider here in Australia and all was working fine. A few weeks ago Austar changed something and everything stopped working. I started getting this from MythTV:
 72 2006-07-31 03:20:23.153 DVB#1 CA: CAM: Menu Title: IRDETO
73 2006-07-31 03:20:23.157 DVB#1 CA: CAM: Menu SubTitle: ffff - INSERT VALID CARD 74 2006-07-31 03:20:23.157 DVB#1 CA: CAM: Menu BottomText: Press OK, or EXIT to Quit
 75 2006-07-31 03:20:23.158 DVB#1 CA: CAM: Cancelling menu

I found a thread that suggested I needed to update the firmware on my CAM or purchase the newer CAM (http://www.scmmicro.com/dvb/dvb_cam.html#Irdeto1.11). This is the thread: http://www.austech.info/showthread.php?t=136822&page=1&pp=15

I attempted to upgrade the firmware, but failed to load the drivers for the CAM in the same way as some others in that thread also had problems and so I decided to purchase the newer CAM. I received the new CAM, but unfortunately it didn't all spring into life as I'd hoped.

It looks fine in dmesg:
tda1004x: found firmware revision 2c -- ok
dvb_ca adapter 1: DVB CAM detected and initialised successfully

Running cam_set from libdvb gives this with the new CAM:
./cam_set -a 1
Found 1CAM(s)
Using /dev/dvb/adapter1/ca0
Found 0 slots
No working CAM found within 30 seconds.

unless I make a connection using cam_test within the 30 seconds:
./cam_set -a 1
Found 1CAM(s)
Using /dev/dvb/adapter1/ca0
Found 0 slots
New connection established.
CI HANDLER: connection established

state: CAM
CI HANDLER: client hung up

The old CAM gives this output and doesn't exit after 30 seconds without the need to make a connection using cam_test:
Found 1CAM(s)
Using /dev/dvb/adapter1/ca0
Found 0 slots
CAM: Irdeto Access , 01, 06FF, 06FF

I have no idea where to go from here. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Or is this DVB-S card incompatible with this CAM?

Cheers,
Dave.

Is there no one that can help me with this problem? Is there any additional information I can provide? Or where can I go from here in order to resolve this myself?

Cheers,
Dave.
